Riccardo Persi
For Riccardo Persi, Business Manager at LiUNA! Local 837, supporting hospice care is about helping create a place where families can be together during some of their most difficult moments.
Riccardo has supported hospice care in the community before and has seen the difference a quieter, more peaceful environment can make for families.
When he learned about Keaton’s House-Paul Paletta Children’s Hospice and the need for a dedicated children’s hospice in the region, he felt it was something LiUNA! Local 837 should be part of.
Sabrina Fiorellino
Families caring for a child with a serious illness often have few opportunities to pause. In South-Central Ontario, they also do so without access to a dedicated children’s hospice close to home.
For Sabrina Fiorellino, that gap is why Keaton’s House – Paul Paletta Children’s Hospice matters.
“Right now, families get no reprieve. The weight of caregiving falls on them around the clock,” she says.

Keaton's Story
When Danielle and her family learned their son Keaton’s cancer was no longer treatable, their focus shifted to making the most of the time they had left. Keaton passed away in December 2010, but their experience revealed a critical gap in care for families like theirs.
With only the options of home or hospital, Danielle saw firsthand the need for a space that felt more like home, with the support families truly need during the most difficult moments. That realization became the foundation for something more.
Now, Danielle is helping lead the creation of Keaton’s House—so families can access compassionate care, comfort, and support in a place designed just for them.
