Keaton’s House Construction Updates

We’ll use this page to keep neighbours and the community informed about upcoming work, possible impacts and important project milestones.
Thank you for your patience and support while construction is underway. Keaton’s House is expected to open in fall 2027, and we’ll continue sharing information as the project moves forward.

Latest update: August 2026

Keaton’s House – Paul Paletta Children’s Hospice is moving into its next phase of construction. Here is what neighbours can generally expect over the coming months.

Week of Aug 10: Site fencing

Starting the week of Aug. 10, perimeter fencing will be installed as crews secure and prepare the site.

August and September: Site preparation

Heavy equipment will be used to prepare and level the site and install underground services for the future building. This work is expected to create generally low to moderate construction noise.

Late September and October: Geothermal and foundation work

Work on the building’s geothermal system and foundation may include periods of louder drilling and construction noise. Above-ground construction will follow as the project progresses.

Traffic and parking

Contractors will park within the fenced site and will be asked to keep neighbourhood streets and the shared access with Wentworth Lodge clear. Construction crews will carpool from off-site locations where possible.

Construction hours

Regular construction hours will be Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasionally, specific work may continue beyond these hours, but all activity will remain within the hours permitted under the City of Hamilton Noise Control By-law.

Previous Update

As of April 24, 2026 – As part of ongoing site preparation, work may resume as early as Monday to complete stump and log removal from previously cleared areas. This work is part of the clean-up of earlier approved activity and does not involve the removal of additional trees. Any remaining tree removals are currently on hold and will be coordinated with the City and project partners before proceeding.

Our Commitment

Kemp Care Network is committed to keeping neighbours informed about construction activity and possible impacts. We will continue working closely with the construction team, the City and neighbouring properties throughout the project.
