Payroll & Benefits Administrator (Part Time, Remote/Hybrid)

Location: 277 Stone Church Road East, Hamilton, ON L9B 1B1 (Hybrid or Possible Remote with some occasional onsite meetings as required)
Employment Type: Part Time (1.5 – 2 Days/Week)
Pay Band: Pay Band $55,000 – $80,000 per year FTE prorated to part-time hours, commensurate on skills, experience.
Effective Date: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

Payroll & Benefits Administrator (Part-time, Remote) –

Kemp Care Network Kemp Care Network is a community-focused health care organization dedicated to providing compassionate care and support to individuals and families. We are seeking a part time detail-oriented Payroll & Benefits Administrator to manage our biweekly payroll and benefits processes for a small but complex workforce in a unionized environment.

About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end biweekly payroll for approximately 70 employees (hourly, salaried, and unionized), using Ceridian. You will also administer the employee benefits plan, support government and health-care related reporting, and help us move from manual timesheets to a more automated, efficient process.

Key Responsibilities
• Process biweekly payroll for approximately 70 hourly and salaried employees in a unionized environment, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with legislation and the collective agreement.
• Review, validate, and enter hours from manual timesheets, and support the evaluation, testing, and implementation of an automated timekeeping solution.
• Maintain accurate employee records in Ceridian, including new hires, changes, union dues, benefits and other deductions, and terminations

• Administer the group benefits plan, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and monthly premium and deduction reconciliations.
• Prepare and reconcile payroll-related general ledger entries and provide payroll and benefits data and reports to Finance as required.
• Prepare and submit payroll-related government remittances and reports (CPP, EI, income tax, EHT, WSIB, union remittances), particularly within a health care context.
• Prepare Records of Employment and assist with year-end activities, including T4s and taxable benefit reporting.
• Respond to employee and manager inquiries regarding pay, benefits, and related policies in a timely and service-oriented manner.
• Identify opportunities to streamline payroll and timekeeping processes and contribute to the roadmap for automation and systems improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS
• 3 – 5 years of recent payroll experience, including processing for hourly and salaried employees
• Experience in a unionized and/or health-care environment is an asset.
• Demonstrated experience with Ceridian (Dayforce or other Ceridian platform) for full-cycle payroll is an asset, however experienced pay professionals with other platform experience (ADP etc will be considered).
• Strong Excel skills, including working with data exports, reconciliations, and general ledger reporting (e.g., v-lookups, pivot tables).
• Solid understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and government reporting requirements, including EHT and WSIB.
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality, with the ability to manage deadlines within a part-time schedule of up to 1.5 days per week.
• PCP or equivalent payroll certification is considered an asset.

CERTIFICATIONS:
• Professional certifications in payroll or benefits are considered an asset.

Work Arrangements:
• Part-time role of 1.5 – 2 days on average per week, aligned with the biweekly payroll cycle and key reporting deadlines.
• Remote work arrangement based in Ontario, with some occasional in-person meetings as required, in Hamilton.
